Pope Benedict Dear Holy Father,

Together with the faithful of the Diocese of Lancaster, I warmly congratulate you on your election and enthusiastically welcome you as successor to the great Pope John Paul II. In every church of the Diocese holy Mass has been offered for you on the day after your election and again on the Sunday. We pray that you will have the Holy Spirit to guide you always, giving you the strength of a great and loving shepherd.

I ask your blessing on this Diocese of Lancaster and myself as the Bishop.
