YOUTH PILGRIM WALK IN THE LAKES
By Sean McMahon; Diocesan Youth Leader
Here are some pictures of this year’s Youth Pilgrimage walk. The walk began at Bishop Pearson's, Bishopscale mountain hut in the Langdale valley on Friday 9th September. There were 30 youth in total on the walk led by Sean Mc Mahon, Fr Manny Gribben and deacon Philip Conner. The youth came from various parts of the diocese Whitehaven, Preston, Great Eccleston, Morecambe, Lancaster , Carlisle to Cleator.
Starting out
The group walked from the Langdales through to Borrowdale on the first day encompassing 5 stations on route with the focus on Our lady's life using a cross for reflection. Then from Borrowdale on to Ennerdale with the theme of Jesus' suffering as a focus for the 5 stations. The group stayed in the Youth hostel and then left Sunday morning to walk on to St Mary's Church Cleator for the annual Mass at the Shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes. The stations focusing on the Resurrection of Jesus. The walk was exciting, challenging and reflective. There was a great sense of achievement from the group when present at the Mass with Bishop Patrick. This was the first venture of its kind in the Diocese in recent years. It will definitely continue, and we hope with more numbers each year. Many more pictures on our web site at www.lancastercys.com
