NOW IT'S THE TURN OF
THE SISTERS
POOR CLARES IN NEW REALITY TELEVISION SPECTACULAR

Remember BBC 2's The Monastery? Thousands of people enquired about Catholic life and beliefs in the wake of the programmes. The broadcasts presented every parish with a wonderful evangelisation opportunity...and now the Sisters are joining in!

Following the success of the male series why not invite your neighbours round to watch 'The Convent'? The three part series will be screened on BBC over the summer and follows four ordinary women who give up their everyday lifestyles to embark upon a spiritual journey with the Poor Clares in Arundel. Offering a remarkable glimpse into the inner workings of convent life, the women spend 40 days and 40 nights in a world without material possessions and where the pressures of modern life are left behind.

Cut off from the outside world, they share the daily routine of prayers and work with the Sisters in an attempt to discover if life has any greater meaning. This series explores whether the age-old values of the nuns hold any relevance to modern women and whether or not this experience will have the power to transform their lives. Although not the intention of the BBC, each broadcast presents all Catholics with a means to share part of the richness of our faith with neighbours and friends. Why not invite people round to watch the programmes with you? The Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation (CASE) has created some free "The Convent" materials for non-Catholic enquirers and a dedicated resources web page. Mgr Keith Barltrop, Director of CASE, said, "We were totally overwhelmed by people's response to the first series filmed at Worth Abbey. It stimulated such widespread interest in our Catholic faith and life. Do take the plunge and invite your non-Catholic neighbours and friends to watch this second series. It promises to be compelling viewing."
