October 2004 Edition Archive

I CONFESS TO ALMIGHTY GOD AND TO YOU MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, THAT I HAVE:

  • Taken so much for granted
  • Shopped till I dropped.
  • Looked down upon the poor as scroungers and wasters.
  • Bought carelessly with never a thought for the poor wretches working on slave wages to produce the things I bought
  • Given little or no money to help the poor of other countries.
  • Wasted the good things of the earth simply because I was having fun.
  • Said not a word, while the government of my country made huge profits selling arms and ammunition to brutal dictators.
  • Used my car needlessly, even though I knew I was wasting fuel others might need.
  • Grown fat through over-eating and greed.
  • Never once fasted for a day in solidarity with the hungry of the world
  • Made no effort to see you in my neighbour.
  • Failed to inform myself of Justice & Peace issues
  • Celebrated Harvest Festival simply because it was “nice” and made me feel good.
